60th Anniversary Gifts
No list splits the 60th anniversary: diamond is both the traditional and the modern gift. Maud C. Cooke's 1899 guide had no 60th at all, and gave its crown-diamond wedding to the 65th.

Why diamond for the sixtieth anniversary?
The link between 60 years and diamond has royal precedent. Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee, held over three days in June 1897, marked her 60 years on the throne. It was the first Diamond Jubilee.
Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on November 20, 2007, with a service at Westminster Abbey. They also went back to Broadlands, where they had spent their honeymoon, to recreate photos taken 60 years before.
Diamond reports, appraisals and carat weights
- Know which GIA report you are getting. The Diamond Grading Report maps the stone's clarity features. The Diamond Dossier, for 0.15 to 1.99 carats, skips the map but laser-inscribes the report number.
- Check the report on GIA's Report Check, which confirms the details match GIA's database. GIA reports also carry a hologram, a security screen and microprint lines against forgery.
- A grading report is not an appraisal. GIA says its reports do not state a dollar value. An appraisal estimates what the diamond is worth, based on its quality and the current market.
- Read weight claims closely. FTC guides say a weight given as a fraction, such as 1/2 carat, should note that it is not exact and give the range. A point is 1/100 carat.
