How the age calculator works
Your age is counted in whole calendar units, largest first. First the calculator counts the full years since your birthday. Then it counts the full months since your last birthday, and finally the days left over.
Months have different lengths, so "6 months and 11 days" is counted on the real calendar, not as an average of 30 days. If you were born on the 31st and a month is shorter, the month is complete on its last day.
If you were born on February 29, your age goes up on February 28 in years that are not leap years. The calculator shows a note whenever this rule changes your result.

Worked example
Born March 21, 1996, measured on October 2, 2026. From March 21, 1996 to March 21, 2026 is 30 full years. From March 21 to September 21, 2026 is 6 full months. From September 21 to October 2 is 11 days. Result: 30 years, 6 months and 11 days.
How to calculate your age by hand
- Subtract your birth year from the current year.
- If your birthday has not happened yet this year, subtract 1. That is your age in years.
- Count the full months from your last birthday to today. If today's day of the month is earlier than your birth day, the current month is not complete yet.
- Count the days from that last full month to today. Together that gives years, months and days.
